Situated on a slope east of Skanderborg Lake in the area of Højvangen, the school was designed by the well-known architectural firm Friis & Moltke and built at the beginning of the 1970s. The buildings have continuously been altered and reorganized to meet the demands made by new teaching methods and for the benefit of the students’ well-being.
Between the school and the woods there is a sculpture park created by the artist Jørn Rønnau in cooperation with students and teachers.
At Skanderborg Amtsgymnasium top priority is given to professional knowledge, serious commitment and active involvement for the benefit of the students’ academic development. As a principle the students are involved in school life professionally, creatively and socially. This creates inspiring conditions for the tuition at the school.
