MORE THAN 110 YEARS OF EXPERTISE
Traditional dairy craftsmanship is combined with modern technology at Gjesing Mejeri, a dairy which annually produces about 6,000 tonnes of Blue Castello, Red Castello and Blue Note products. One tenth of what is produced is destined for the domestic market while the remainder finds its way onto distant export markets such as the USA, Australia and Japan.
The starting point for the manufacture of these well-known speciality cheeses is the milk which the dairy itself collects from approximately 85 suppliers in the surrounding area. The close contact between those that produce the milk and the dairy is a reminder of how things were at co-operative dairies in days gone by – and Gjesing dairy was originally such a dairy. |
