Satisfied citizens and businesses

The well-being of citizens, a high level of service and a thriving business community are key aims for the Municipality of Skanderborg, which is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Denmark.

Shortly after the municipal reform took effect on 1 January 2007, the Municipality of Skanderborg was named the municipality in the region where citizens are proudest to live. Region Central Jutland has a population of more than 1.2 million, of whom 55,000 live in the Municipality of Skanderborg.

Why people living in the municipality are so satisfied can be explained by the fact that their municipality offers a high level of public service, guaranteed childcare, a modern school system, an active and varied palette of cultural and leisure time activities, a varied choice of housing and, not least, that the municipality boasts some of the most stunning scenery in Denmark.

However, its unique infrastructure, which can be attributed to the municipality’s central position in Jutland, is an important aspect when citizens and businesses decide to base 

themselves in the Municipality of Skanderborg.
There is fast and easy access to both the E45 motorway and the new motorway between Aarhus and Silkeborg. From Skanderborg railway station, which is part of the overall rail network, there are direct connections to e.g. Aarhus and Copenhagen, and local and regional trains stop at the stations in Ry and Hørning. It takes less than an hour to travel to the international airport in Billund, and the biggest container terminal in Aarhus is only half an hour away.

Business-friendly

The Municipality of Skanderborg is a growth centre. A good business climate with a high service level and fast decision-making means that the municipality is particularly attractive to companies.

On 1 January 2007, the business association Skanderborg Erhvervsudvikling was established. The association brings together the business and tourist associations, and with the Municipality of Skanderborg they constitute a strong umbrella organisation. The aim of this joint project is to ensure that the Municipality of Skanderborg ranks near the top among business-friendly municipalities. The business association Skanderborg Erhvervsforening helps to create development and ensure the best possible service for businesses, customers and visitors in the Municipality of Skanderborg.

The towns and town centres with dynamic shopping environments and an exciting cultural life will continue to see development.

Even though the Municipality of Skanderborg continues to grow and prosper, it will always respect the fact that Skanderborg is one of the most beautiful municipalities in Denmark.
